So as a early birthday gift to myself, I bought a Canon EOS Rebel T4i 18.0 MP CMOS Digital SLR with 18-55mm EF-S IS II Lens. I got it from amazon and for a steal of a price of $648 shipped. I’m very excited and can’t wait. I’ve always been into photography since I was a freshman in high school, but I have never had a decent camera to take good photos with. Just your basic cheap point and shoots and Smartphone camera’s over the decades. Now that these DSLR’s have become more affordable, this should be a great beginner SLR for me.
My good friend has the older t2i model and he takes amazing photos, i’m looking forward to learning a thing or to from him as soon as the camera arrives. I still need to find me a good tripod because I am really into night photography as so is my friend. I am also looking forward to the HD video recording capabilities as well. Should be a lot of fun!
More to come soon once I start taking some test shots.
So this Tuesday my wife and a I bought bought two new pet rats to replace our poor Luna we had to put down. She couldn’t eat and then a day or two later could not drink so we acted quickly and gave her peace at the vet. RIP Luna 2011 – 2013.
Our new rats are 6 week old females sisters. Ava is black with white underneath her body. Lyla is gray and white. Ava is getting more and more social with us while Lyla is taking longer to trust us and mellow out. We are hoping time with us will turn her around.
They are still very young and so it’s too soon to expect much just yet. They have sat sat on our shoulders already and seem to enjoy it which is nice.
I love Google and Google’s Android a lot, but I also like seeing guys being able to hit the market with other Open source Operating systems. Introducing Ubuntu Linux on a Smart phone! NICE! It’ll be interesting to see where this goes More info on it from their official website HERE.

I have been very busy lately. I’ve been going to doctor appointments twice a week for 2 weeks on everyday off from work I had. I’ve have been preparing for my Jaw Surgery. I just had it done on Christmas Eve morning and I’m still recovering from it. My face is still very swollen and all my teeth are completely wired together shut so until the 2nd of January i’ll be like that, eating what I can in liquid form. This surgery was for making my jaw and teeth line up correctly , doing what my braces could not do on there own. I used to get popping jaw and I had a sore jaw from it. It made it hard to chew sometimes. I’m going to be out from work until the 23rd of January as well. My work was nice enough to hold my full time spot for me. Just thought I’d give people the update.
For Christmas I have just been watching Christmas movies, shows and gaming off and on. I can’t wait to get through this.
I came across this on Youtube today. This Guy Daniel Kim puts together 50+ popular pop songs together as if they were almost meant to be one. It’s a awesome Pop mash up he likes to call, “Danthology”. He’s done 2010, 2012, 2012. He also has a bunch of other covers and works as well. Pretty cool, check it out!
So with the little time I’ve been getting off from my job I have revived the old server PC that was used to host this site and others. I was able to find some spare DDR2 memory and that’s all it needed to get it reliable again. I have decided to use it as a media PC for my living room on my HD TV and a gaming PC to run all my classic games and emulators for all my favorite arcade and console games. I have installed Windows XP pro 32bit so that I can use it for older games which are not always compatible with Windows vista/7 and 64 bit operating systems. Some of my emulators which have not been updated by the developers in a long time seem to have issues. I’ll leave my main game PC to handle the heavy duty new age stuff.
Nothing really fancy, no Arcade cabinet, or arcade joy pad, though I thought later on down that road that would be cool to play around with on a Summer day. I may invest in a X-Arcade 2 player joy pad soon, I can get one on Ebay for a good price to start out first. For controllers currently now I use a usb xbox controller, a light weight USB Logitech game pad and a basic saitek Joystick. I have my two ps3 controllers for my PS3 I plan to hook up to my PC as well with the quick mod available out there. Hopefully i’ll get around to it soon, should be fun.
To emulate the older pc games for DOS I’m using DOSBox with D-Fend Reloaded as the GUI front-end For old point and click games, I’m using ScummVM. The rest of the older win95 – 98 games seem to run fine with regular install and compatibility mode.
I am back ONLINE! And now with a brand new server. My old hand me down Core 2 Duo Gateway kept corrupting every Linux installation I kept putting on there, hence my website being down for almost 2 months! I just started a new full time job, so it took me awhile to be able to set aside the time and really research carefully before ordering the parts from Newegg.com and as a result I got a good server built from scratch for under $400. Here is the rough specs of what this site and my other websites are currently running on.
The Server Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i3-3225 Ivy Bridge 3.3GHz LGA 1155 55W Intel HD Graphics 4000
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Pro3 LGA 1155 Intel Z77
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600
Hard drive: Crucial M4 2.5″ 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Case: Antec Nine Hundred. (Left over from an old build)
Operating System: CentOS 6 Linux
Power Supply: Antec 550 Watt.
Battery backup: 2X APC UPS 500.
Internet Connection: 50 Mbps Download / 5 Mbps Upload.
All my websites are on automatic backups once again so if anything was to happen again my stuff will be safe. Running back ups and loading websites is instant now with everything on the SDD, all that would limit it now would be my internet connection. In addition, the server uses very little power, runs silent and that’s a plus. I’m very satisfied with this low cost build.
The rainbow and orange sky last Wednesday 09/5/2012. Taken from my house in Concord,CA while I was washing my car. We had this weird sprinkle of rain drops off and on all over, not enough to do any good. Not bad from my phone’s Camera.
